What if my teen doesn’t have traditional “subjects”?
That’s actually normal for unschoolers! This course shows you how to recognize real-life learning and organize it into subject areas that make sense on paper—for colleges, jobs, or anyone who needs a more traditional format.
Do I have to be an unschooler to use this course?
Not at all! Many families consider themselves “Almost Unschooling” or “Relaxed Homeschoolers.” That often means they use curriculum for certain subjects but lean into life learning for others. This course helps you translate both into a transcript—without needing to shift into full-on school mode. You can document what’s already happening, however learning looks in your home.
What if I didn’t keep good records?
You’re not alone—many unschooling families are immersed in living life with their teens, not logging every detail. The good news is, you remember more than you realize! You can tap into memories, photos, scrapbooks, text threads, social media posts, or even old calendars to help reconstruct what your teen has been learning. This course will show you how to pull those pieces together and shape them into a transcript that reflects their real experiences.
What's the best age to make a transcript? Would it help to do it for teens who have some time before actually graduating?
It might! Sometimes teens feel they're not doing anything "legit." You might have those same concerns! Walking through the transcript course while your teens are younger may be the reassurance you need to keep unschooling and/or prevent you from panicking. Plus, you'll be that much closer to having it done when the time comes!
Can I use this if my teen wants to go to college?
Yes! The course includes info on college-friendly transcripts, how to assign credits, and what to include so colleges understand and accept your teen’s learning path.
What if my teen isn’t doing much right now?
That’s okay. Sometimes teens are decompressing, especially if they just left school. You’ll learn how to document quiet periods honestly—and how to spot the learning that is unfolding under the surface. Many families are surprised to find that typical teen lives are FULL of learning! This course will help you see it through a new lens.
How do I know how many credits to assign?
You’ll learn multiple methods—based on hours, mastery, or documentation—and I’ll walk you through choosing the one that fits best. You’ll also get templates and examples to make it easier.
Do I have to include grades?
Nope—many institutions do not require them. I'll show you how to determine grades if you need them though, as well as other options that can work for your family.
What if I’m afraid I’ll do it wrong?
That’s exactly why I made this course! You’ll get step-by-step instructions, real examples, and plenty of reassurance. There’s no one right way—just a way that works for your teen and their goals.
